Samantha has extensive experience in commercial and corporate law. She was previously practising as a barrister in England during which she was a tenant at 3 Dr Johnson’s Buildings where she gained specialist experience in advising in complex commercial transactions, and also at 9 King’s Bench Walk where she became a specialist in immigration law, advising commercial organisations in the complex requirements of UK immigration law in bringing skilled employees to the United Kingdom.
Samantha now resides in Johannesburg, South Africa where she has set up a consultancy and undertakes consultancy work for a variety of companies in Africa wishing to set up business in South Africa. She is an Accredited Commercial Mediator in South Africa and in the UK.
As a consultant, Samantha utilises her detailed knowledge of English and South African law to assist clients wishing to ensure that they meet international compliance and regulatory requirements. She provides systematic reviews of company policies and procedures to ensure such compliance. She undertook an internship in 2005 in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister in England where she investigated the structural optimisation of the department, including the identification of redundant systems, the minimization of inefficiencies and the streamlining of operations.
Samantha has an excellent LLB (Hons) degree in European, International and Comparative Law from the University of Sheffield in England and an LL.M from the University of Cape Town in Commercial law and taxation.
